Isabella and Louis soon started to have feelings for each-other, and they had an affair behind Phillip's back which at the time was considered adultery and was punishible by death. 3 years into there union Isabella gave birth to a daughter, Marie of France, but 1 year after her daughter's birth, her husband died of fever, and Louis succeeded him, the widowed Queen was expected to become a nun, but she insisted on staying in court with her daughter.
